Shawn Kitzman
Head InstructorShawn began training at the age of sixteen. Shawn’s martial arts credentials include: Phase One Instructorship under Sifu Paul Vunak in the Filipino Martial Arts and Bruce Lee’s martial art Jeet Kune Do, and Phase 1 Level 3 and Level 1 Thai Boxing under Sifu Dave Hatch. Sifu Paul chose Shawn to be one of fifty to participate in his cutting edge program Executive PFS. This material is the same that has been taught to the Navy SEALS and other top military and law enforcement agencies. He is also a certified Criminal Justice Training Provider (CJTP) under the Michigan Coalition of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Shawn’s goal is to help build the two most important attributes a student can possess: self-confidence and self-awareness. With these in mind, everything else takes care of itself.

Jerry Whiting
Apprentice InstructorJerry began his martial arts training at the age of eighteen. The first martial art that he studied was Isshinryu Karate. Within four years he was promoted to the rank of black belt and instructor. He has taught students ranging in age from three to over sixty years old. Jerry was nominated for Karate-Ka (student) of The Year in the Isshinryu Hall of Fame. Having long viewed Bruce Lee's methods as the essence of martial arts, he became involved in Jeet Kune Do. In an effort to continue to grow and refine his skills, Jerry keeps in mind a saying from a former instructor: "Martial Arts is like carving a duck out of wood. It is easy to get the wood to have the general shape of the duck, but it takes years of sanding to get it to look like a duck." He also plans to train in a way that will allow him to train all of his life and "keep sanding the duck."
